Welcome to the Village of Mt. Sterling, Ohio!
The Village of Mount Sterling was laid out in the late 1820s by John J. Smith, Esq. of Mount Sterling, Kentucky, who named the town after his hometown. The town was officially recorded in 1829 and the Mount Sterling Post Office was established in 1830. The town was incorporated in 1845 and has since expanded its limits.
In the late 19th century, Mount Sterling was a bustling community with a variety of businesses and services, including churches, stores, banks, a hotel, and even a flour mill. By 1915, the town had modern amenities such as electricity, a city waterworks, and a high school.
Today, Mount Sterling continues to be a vibrant and welcoming community, with a rich history and a strong sense of community.
